Twin Disc Supports Moreton Bay Islands Community Service
Recently we were asked to undertake transmission repairs for a grand old lady of the sea called Lady Caroline. Lady Caroline operates within the Bay Island Community Service Maritime Division, a free service providing residents of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands and volunteers from the Bay Islands Community Service the opportunity to experience the beautiful waterways that surround their communities. All crew and maintenance conducted on Lady Caroline and the other boats in the fleet is on a voluntary basis, and all costs are community funded, so we felt it a very worthy cause and great opportunity to support.
Vessel Manager Graham Webb, who gives an enormous amount of time and energy on a voluntary basis managing Lady Caroline and the other boats in their fleet, says the whole community is just so grateful for the support, as raising funds for such expenses would be a huge challenge. According to Graham, Lady Caroline gives community volunteers and those less fortunate the opportunity to enjoy the local waterways, just a small token of thanks for their effort in the community.
“Queensland’s Moreton Bay is the closest boating destination to our Pacific Headquarters so it’s fitting that we can help such a great community cause in our backyard. Bay Islands Community Service is a not for profit community service that’s all about helping locals in the southern Moreton Bay area to get out and enjoy the beautiful boating the region has to offer, and aboard this stunning old vessel Lady Caroline. After discussions with the vessel manager Graham Webb, learning what they are doing for the local community and seeing the sheer passion that he and their team has for the community, we decided that offering our support would be a valuable contribution back to our local community.” – John Harrison Twin Disc Pacific Service Manager.
