A collaboration between marine stabilisation leader Seakeeper, Inc. and premium pontoon builder Barletta Boats has introduced active underway stabilisation to pontoons for the first time. This partnership brings Seakeeper Ride technology to a vessel category that has historically lacked access to advanced motion control systems.

The move addresses a significant gap in the pontoon market. While active stabilisation has become increasingly standard on monohulls and powerboats measuring 5.8–16.8 metres (19–55 ft), pontoon owners have had limited options for reducing pitch and roll underway. Seakeeper Ride can eliminate up to 70% of these motions, delivering measurably calmer rides across both freshwater and coastal applications.

Making this technology work on pontoons required dedicated engineering. Barletta modified the aft running surface design and developed a specialised mounting system to accommodate the hardware. Beyond the physical integration, Seakeeper developed pontoon-specific software that enables these boats to bank naturally through turns—mimicking the handling characteristics that monohull operators expect whilst maintaining deck-level stability as passenger weight shifts.

For pontoon applications, this system has been tailored to manage the unique dynamics of multi-hull platforms, actively controlling pitch, roll, and yaw whilst allowing natural vessel banking during turns and compensating for uneven passenger distribution.
