Seakeeper expands in the West
Twin Disc Pacific is pleased to welcome Pleisure Marine, Perth to the Seakeeper Service Centre network.
Building on his background of technical capability and engineering, Damon Johns established Pleisure Marine in 2010 and now occupies spacious premises in the heart of the marine precinct in O’Connor.
Working with him are four technicians, an apprentice and Emma Johns, his wife and office manager.
“We specialize in all repairs and maintenance to marine diesel engines and drive trains across all makes and models, as well as the sale and installation of engines, generators and water makers,” said Damon.
Pleisure Marine is an authorised sales and repair agent for MAN, Yanmar and Kohler generators and a BIAWA-approved repairer. They are in demand from local and interstate boat buyers for inspections and servicing and regularly travel north to Port Hedland and Karratha to work on commercial vessels.
The association with Seakeeper began at the 2017 Perth Boat Show, when one of their customers sought a solution to the “rock and roll” of his boat which was enough to spoil a day’s fishing.
“We showed him the Seakeeper 3 onboard the demo boat and he called Monday to order one! We have since installed a Seakeeper 3 in a Peter Milner 36 and currently a Seakeeper 16 in a Sprayline 62.
“The market response has been fantastic over here! There is so much interest and discussion around the product and we are really excited to complete the S16 install to be able to demonstrate the roll reduction to current prospects with larger luxury vessels. We also believe that the direction that Seakeeper are heading with gyros for smaller trailer boats that the WA boating community will be very responsive.”
Glenn Frettingham, Managing Director at Twin Disc Pacific said the appointment of Pleisure Marine is significant to meet growing demand in the West.
“The team at Pleisure Marine have specialist skills and a proactive approach to customers, which make them a perfect fit. Our strategy is to bring on more partners in the trailerable boat market as this is the primary growth market in Australia.”
Twin Disc Pacific and Seakeeper have distinct synergies, Glenn continued. “Twin Disc is the expert in marine propulsion, control, handling and performance and Seakeeper enhances the boating experience, improving the ease of using your boat, comfort onboard and safety. Our cultures are closely aligned. Like us, Seakeeper is very customer focused and forward thinking.”
At the 2018 Sydney International Boat Show, 2 to 6 August, Twin Disc will conduct demonstrations on the marina onboard a new Haines Signature 788 Sport Fish with a compact Seakeeper 2 anti-roll gyro installed.
Berthed on the other side of the Cockle Bay Marina, Twin Disc’s 47ft demo boat, Revolution will head out into the Harbour and beyond Sydney Heads on sea trials to demonstrate Twin Disc systems, including the QuickShift transmission, Express Joystick and Express Positioning System.
